Your nine-night New England Self-Drive Tour holiday gets underway with your flight from the UK to Boston. Pick up your hire car and stay for two nights close to Boston’s new Edward M Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate, John F Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, TD Garden, and Fenway Park. Next, you'll spend the night in South Portland with LL Bean and Freeport Outlet Mall, Portland Head Light, Cushing's Point House Museum, Maine Art Trail, and Fort Williams Park easily accessible.

On Day 4, drive to North Conway in The White Mountains for two nights; with Kahuna Laguna Indoor Water Park, Story Land, Santa’s Village, Conway Scenic Rail Road, White Mountain National Forest, the Mount Washington Auto Road, and Diana’s Baths all within easy reach. Continue on to Stowe in the Green Mountains of Vermont for the night with mountain biking and hiking along Vermont's trails, skiing, shopping, Stowe Theater Guild, and Hyde Park Opera House all available locally.

On Day 7, arrive in Pittsfield for the night, close to Hancock Shaker Village, Colonial Theater, Berkshire Museum, Pittsfield State Forest, and Tanglewood Music Center. The following day, drive to Cape Cod for your final two nights. Visit Kalmus Park Beach, Cape Cod Potato Chip Factory, Cape Cod Mall, John F Kennedy Museum, and Cape Cod National Seashore. On Day 10, drive back to the airport for your flight home to the UK with many memories to treasure.

Day 1-3 - YOTEL, Boston

Your New England Self-Drive Tour holiday starts with your flight from the UK to the USA city of Boston.

Boston is Massachusetts’ capital and largest city. Rich in history, this bustling city is the perfect size to explore within a few days. Walk along The Freedom Trail and discover 16 locations significant to the history of the United States. Take a stroll through the oldest city park in the United States, Boston Common, and take in the sweeping views of green fields, lakes, and historic monuments. Gaze in awe at the towering sky line from the stunning waterfront and visit the historic Faneuil Hall, the home of America's first town meeting.

Pay a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts for a look at a vast collection of ancient Egyptian and contemporary American treasures. Faneuil Hall Marketplace is the place to be for shopping, with stores covering three historic buildings, a promenade, and a large shopping centre. Catch a game at Fenway Park, which is the legendary home of the Red Sox and is bursting with history.


Day 3-4 - Best Western Merry Manor Inn, South Portland

Carry on to South Portland where you'll check in for a one-night stay at your chosen hotel.

South Portland can be found in Cumberland County; and is the fourth-largest city in the state. There's plenty to see and do in this bustling city, including the Bug Light; a historical lighthouse designed after a Greek monument. This attraction features idyllic harbour views and a park to explore adjacent. The 19th-century Victoria Manson is a fascinating visit for many because of its Italian villa style and ornate interior and there are tours available for viewings of the building.

Bug Light Park is a scenic 9-acre green space with a pretty harbour, skyline views, and a small lighthouse that was built in 1875. Pack a picnic and head down to the popular tourist spot to spend the perfect family day. Also, be sure to get some shopping done at LL Bean and Freeport Outlet Mall, and check out Portland's historic Old Port, Portland Head Light, Cushing's Point House Museum, Maine Art Trail, and Fort Williams Park.


Day 4-6 - Merrill Farm Inn, North Conway

Drive to North Conway where you'll check in for a two-night stay.

The quaint village of North Conway can be found nestled in eastern Carroll County, New Hampshire. Bounded by the Maine state line, the year-round resort area is the largest village within the town of Conway. Opt for an action-packed family day out at Kahuna Laguna Indoor Water Park, or make long-lasting memories at Story Land theme park. For the walking enthusiasts amongst you, taking a hike up Cranmore Mountain to admire wide-spread picturesque views is a must.

Conway Scenic Rail Road offers thrilling rides on restored locomotives along with dining cars and a nostalgic 19th-century feel. Walk through Diana's Baths to appreciate the group of small waterfalls, rock ledges, and pools along Lucy Brook. White Mountain National Forest will provide you with a pleasant stroll to glimpse at nature; there is also White Mountain Winery for the chance to sample some local fruity blends. Experience the adventure of a scenic drive or guided tour to discover the legendary Mount Washington Auto Road.


Day 6-7 - Golden Eagle, Stowe

Drive to Stowe where you'll check in for a one-night stay at your chosen hotel.

Located in northern Vermont and overlooked by Mount Mansfield is the town of Stowe. Near the base, Smugglers' Notch State Park has a dense forest area and a narrow mountain pass and ideal if you appreciate the freshness of outdoor adventures. Slip on your ski-wear and head up to Stowe Mountain Resort for a slide down the slopes, plus grab a spot of lunch at one of the many eateries then shop 'til you drop. Challenge yourself to a hike up Mount Mansfield to admire the state's highest peak.

Moss Glen Falls is a beautiful spot to listen to the sound of water rushing and soak up the atmosphere of the great outdoors. Tuck into a local favourite at Cold Hollow Cider Mill; cider donuts. Here there is also a market selling sweet syrups and a range of other Vermont goods. Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum offers you an interesting array of exhibits of ski and snowboard equipment, as well as clothing and artwork.


Day 7-8 - Hilton Garden Inn Lenox, Pittsfield

Pittsfield is your next stop, and here you'll check in for a one-night stay.

Tucked into Berkshire County is the largest city and county seat of Pittsfield. The city is brimming with history and culture due to its plethora of museums, including Berkshire Museum, Arrowhead Museum, and Shaker Museum. Head out for some fresh air and explore October Mountain State Forest, where you can enjoy fishing, hiking and camping. The Ashuwillticook Rail Trail is a former railroad converted into a 10-foot-wide paved scenic rail trail path.

Sample local fruit blends at Hilltop Orchards Home of Furnace Brook Winery and roam around the pretty vineyards. Experience a zip-lining adventure through the forest at Ramblewild Adventure Park, or pack up a picnic and head to Wahconah Falls State Park. Bousquet Ski Area is the perfect stop-off if you're a fan of skiing; with a 750-foot vertical mountain, two double lifts, two carpet lifts, plus a thrilling water park during the summer.


Day 8-10 - Bayside Resort, Cape Cod

Drive to West Yarmouth and check into your chosen accommodation for your final two-night stay.

West Yarmouth in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, offers a plethora of sights and attractions. For a glimpse at a thematic panorama of photographs, archival films, text panels and oral histories of John F Kennedy and his family be sure to check out John F Kennedy Museum. Pause for a shop around Cape Cod Mall, or head on down to Kalmus Park Beach to experience popular windsurfing activities.

Take an insightful tour around Cape Cod Potato Chip Factory to see the process of the famous combination of hand-selected potatoes, oil, and salt turning into delicious kettle cooked crisps. Enjoy a visit to the tent theatre Cape Cod Melody Tent to appreciate the sounds of the most talented. Cape Cod's National Seashore is a stunning combination of ponds, woods, and beachfront of the Atlantic coastal pine barrens.
