4 nights - Kloof Street Hotel - Cape Town

Your South Africa holiday starts with your flight from the UK to Cape Town where you'll check into Kloof Street Hotel for a four-night stay.

Cape Town is a mixture of cultures, cuisines, and landscapes and is packed to the brim with many famous sights and attractions. Ride the cable car to the top of impressive Table Mountain; the country’s most-photographed attraction and one of the new 'Seven Wonders of Nature'. Take a boat trip to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned or come face-to-face with a great white shark on a cage dive. Pay a visit to Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens to admire the flora and fauna or culture fans can take in The Heart of Cape Town Museum, Iziko Museums of South Africa, and Zeitz MOCAA.

Drive five minutes west of the city centre to climb the 350-metre high Signal Hill and witness the ‘noon gun’ and stunning vistas over Cape Town, Table Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean. Camps Bay boasts an amazing swathe of sand, a Twelve Apostles backdrop, and chic cafe and boutique-lined Victoria Street; while the four white sandy beaches at Clifton are popular with sun-worshippers. No trip to Cape Town would be complete without enjoying a platter of fresh seafood by the Victoria and Albert Waterfront and driving to the penguin colony at Boulders Beach in Simon's Town and onwards to the UNESCO-listed Cape Point.

2 nights - Franschhoek Boutique Hotel - Cape Winelands

Travel from Cape Town to Franschhoek at the heart of the Cape Winelands and check into Franschhoek Boutique Hotel for a two-night stay.

The Cape Winelands are located in the Boland region of South Africa's Western Cape; with Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Worcester, and Wellington its most famous towns. Franschhoek nestles amid centuries-old vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture; follow the trails through Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve, visit the Huguenot Memorial, and see vintage cars at Franschhoek Motor Museum. Step back to a bygone era in Stellenbosch with its vine-filled fields, cobbled streets, oak trees, and Cape Dutch-style buildings; explore University Botanic Gardens, Village Museum, Rupert Museum, and Jonkershoek Nature Resort.

Paarl is famous for its full-bodied red and crisp white wines produced at wineries such as Nederburg Wines, Black Pearl Wines, Ridgeback Wine Farm, and Rhebokskloof Wine Estate; and home to Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve, Berg River, Spice Route, and Cape Brewing Company. Worcester leads to the Worcester Wine Route through 24 co-operatives, three private wine cellars, and two brandy cellars and Karoo Desert Garden and Worcester Museum. Wellington is the place to go hiking through historic Bain's Kloof Pass, follow the Wellington Wine Route or Wellington's Heritage Trail, and visit Wellington Museum and Breytenbach Centre.

4 nights - Zambezi Queen - Zambezi Queen Safari

On day eight, transfer to the Zambezi Queen for a four-night safari adventure on the Chobe River.

Experience the magic of Africa along a 25km-long stretch of the Chobe River onboard the luxury floating hotel, Zambezi Queen. This luxury houseboat boasts 14 tasteful suites, all with outer decks to soak up the Chobe River breeze and views of the unfolding landscapes; plus modern amenities such as air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom, electronic safe, hairdryer, and dressing gown and slippers. A stay on-board Zambezi Queen is a different kind of safari. You get to decide if you want to be up with the birds, or prefer to laze all morning watching game from the comfort of your bed. Zambezi Queen's itinerary is flexible so, while there are a range of activities on offer, you can choose just how much you want to pack into your holiday or how relaxed you want to be.
